The implementation (`service-fs/anchor-emitter/`) is a standalone Rust binary (own `[workspace]` to avoid openssl-sys conflicts in the parent monorepo). **Correction (2026-07-18):** the `anchor-emitter` binary itself checks out directly — its

rustls-tls dependency exactly as described. **No `local-fs-anchor.service` or
`local-fs-anchor.timer` file was found anywhere in the monorepo**, though — a repo-wide
search finds only `infrastructure/systemd/mediakit/local-fs.service` (the daemon unit
itself, confirming the `FS_LEDGER_ROOT`/`FS_MODULE_ID` env vars used elsewhere in this
article) at a different path than the `infrastructure/local-fs/local-fs.service` this
article cites in the next section. Either the anchoring timer is deployed directly on the
live host without a version-controlled unit file (unlike the daemon unit, which is
checked in), or the specific schedule (`OnCalendar=*-*-01 02:30:00`) is aspirational
rather than deployed. **Flagged, not silently rewritten** — needs project-totebox
confirmation of whether the monthly anchoring cron actually runs today before this is
corrected.

## The two boot envelopes

`service-fs` is intended to ship in two envelopes that share the same wire protocol and the same storage format.
