**Correction (2026-08-02, verified against canonical `origin/main`):** two of the four export paths described below don't exist. `GET /export/<category>/<slug>` has no matching route anywhere in `app-mediakit-knowledge`. `service-fs export --format tlog-tiles` and `service-fs verify` are fictional — `service-fs` is a pure HTTP daemon with no CLI at all. `query_datagraph`/`get_entity_context` (Path 1) are real MCP tools; `read_since` is a real internal Rust trait method on `service-fs`, not a documented public API as this guide implies. Also uses the "INPUT/USER" pairing-tier naming already found wrong elsewhere this sweep — see [[pair-a-new-device]]. **Flagged, not resolved.**

The platform stores data at multiple layers — raw ledger tiles, entity records in the DataGraph, wiki content, and location intelligence datasets. Exporting that data means choosing the right layer for your use case and the appropriate export format. This guide covers the four main export paths and when to use each.

## Prerequisites

- A paired device with appropriate tier access (INPUT for ledger; USER for read-only exports)
- An active Totebox session (see [[open-first-totebox-session]])
- Knowledge of which data layer you are targeting
- Access to the DataGraph MCP tools, for entity exports
- Read access to the relevant `media-knowledge-*` git repository, for wiki exports
- Network access to `service-fs` and your module identifier, for ledger exports
- A device paired to the workspace (see [[pair-a-new-device]])

## Export path 1: Entity data from the DataGraph
## Purpose

Use this when you need structured records about people, organisations, projects, or services.
Pick the right export path for what you're actually trying to get out of the platform — entity records, article content, or audit-grade ledger history each have a genuinely different real mechanism.

Call `query_datagraph` to identify the entity, then call `get_entity_context` to retrieve the full entity profile. The returned JSON object is the authoritative entity record. Copy or pipe it to your destination system.
## Procedure

For bulk exports, the `service-fs` API provides a `read_since` operation that returns entity-linked records from the ledger in chronological order.

Use this for structured records about a person, organization, project, or service.

Use this when you need article content for downstream publication, processing, or indexing.

The response is the raw Markdown file including frontmatter. No authentication is required for content marked `audience: vendor-public`.
Use this for article content you need for downstream publication, processing, or indexing.

## Export path 3: Location intelligence datasets as GeoJSON
Wiki articles are plain Markdown files with YAML frontmatter, stored directly in the `media-knowledge-*` git repositories. Read or export them the same way you'd export any file from a git repository — clone or pull the relevant repo and read the files you need directly. There is no separate HTTP export endpoint; the git repository itself is the export surface.

Use this when you need cluster or archetype spatial data for GIS applications.

Page through `GET /v1/entries?since=<cursor>` against your `service-fs` instance until the response is empty, then fetch `GET /v1/checkpoint` to anchor what you exported to a specific `tree_size`/`root_hash`. The exported entries and checkpoint are both plain JSON, verifiable with a standard SHA-256 utility — no proprietary tooling required.

Where `<name>` is one of: `vwh` (Vertical Warehouse), `pks` (Parking Structures), or the main cluster file. These files include tier classifications, co-location signal fields, and enrichment attributes.

## Verification

The resulting file is plain text, verifiable with a SHA-256 utility, and readable without any PointSav tooling. See [[verify-worm-ledger]] for the verification procedure.
For entity data, confirm the returned profile's freshness matches your expectation (see [[query-the-datagraph]]). For wiki content, confirm the frontmatter block parses and the `slug` matches what you expected to export. For ledger entries, verify the checkpoint's `tree_size` covers every cursor you exported.
